The First Reinvention of Mark Zuckerberg

A Symposium & Screening

On Sunday October 9, 2016 at 4:30:42pm in Palo Alto, CA, Mark Zuckerberg went live: “Hey everyone. We are live from my backyard, where I am smoking a brisket and some ribs, and getting ready for the presidential debate tonight.”

Four weeks later, his company would be blamed for the results of that election, beginning a “techlash” against formerly popular technology platforms, companies, and their CEOs.

Sometime around 2022, the video disappeared from @zuck’s public Facebook archive.

Exactly 10 years later, we will rewatch a restored version of Mark and friends, live grilling in Mark’s backyard, and discuss 10 years of change on the internet.

Friday October 9, 2026 7:00pm – 8:03pm EST

The Symposium and screening will be held on Zoom.

Link will be provided here on the day of the event.
